1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly, remember your choices, and help site owners understand how visitors move around their pages. Cookies do not run programmes or carry viruses — they are simply data files.
Alongside cookies, similar technologies such as local storage and session storage may be used for the same purposes. This policy covers all of these.
2. Cookies We Use
We place cookies in four categories. The table below summarises each one.
| Category | Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keep the site working — session handling, security, form function | Always on |
| Analytics | Help us understand page visits and navigation so we can improve the site | Optional |
| Marketing | Track visits across sites to show relevant adverts on other platforms | Optional |
| Preferences | Remember your settings such as language or region choices | Optional |
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by third-party services we use rather than directly by Bahtera Labs:
- Google Analytics — used to measure site traffic and visitor behaviour, only if you consent to analytics cookies. Data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy terms.
- Google Maps — an embedded map on our contact page may set cookies related to map display. These are covered by Google's own cookie policy.
- Social media platforms — if we embed sharing buttons or feeds, the relevant platforms (such as LinkedIn or Meta) may set their own cookies, subject to your consent.
We do not control third-party cookies directly. You can review each provider's policy via their own documentation.
4. How Long Cookies Last
Cookies fall into two groups by duration:
- Session cookies — these exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close the tab or browser.
- Persistent cookies — these remain on your device for a set period. Analytics cookies typically last 13 months; preference cookies last up to 12 months. You can delete them at any time through your browser settings.
