A Crew You Can Count On
Bahtera Labs was built around one idea: that AI tools are worth using only when they genuinely fit how your business works — not the other way around.
← Back to HomeWhere the Name Comes From
Bahtera is the Malay word for vessel — something built to carry people safely across open water. That image felt right for what we do. Our clients are often owners managing a lot at once, and the last thing they need is another system that adds weight instead of lifting it.
Bahtera Labs started in Singapore in 2022, when our founder, Hafiz Razali, noticed a pattern: small business owners were curious about AI tools but had nobody to help them think through the decision calmly. Most of what was available was pitched at large companies with dedicated IT departments. The advice for small trades, family firms, and independent eateries was either missing or far too technical.
We set out to fill that gap — not by selling software, but by helping owners understand what would genuinely help, configuring it properly, and staying available when questions came up later.
What Guides Our Work
-
Honest first If a tool would not help your particular business, we say so. We would rather lose a sale than send you down a path that wastes your time.
-
Steady over fast Rushing technology into a small business often creates more problems than it solves. We move at the pace that keeps your team comfortable.
-
Partnership, not transactions The best outcomes happen when we understand your business over time. Most of our clients stay with us across multiple engagements.
People Behind the Work
A small, focused team — each with a clear role aboard.

Siti Chunnu
Integration SpecialistSiti handles the technical side of Crossing Setup engagements — connecting apps, configuring assistants, and producing the written diagrams clients keep on hand.
Jin Liang
Client Support & Retainer LeadJin manages ongoing retainer relationships, handles weekday support queries, and runs the quarterly reviews that keep retainer clients on a clear course.
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
These are not marketing points — they describe practices baked into every engagement.
Data Handled with Care
We access only the information needed to complete the work. We do not retain client data after an engagement closes, and we explain clearly what any tool we configure can and cannot see.
Written Scope Before We Start
Every engagement begins with a short written scope so you know what is included, what is outside the brief, and what happens at handover. No surprises mid-project.
Tested Before Handover
We run the setup through real-use scenarios before your team touches it. If something breaks in testing, we fix it — not after you have gone live.
Proper Staff Walkthrough
Every setup includes time with the people who will actually use it. We answer questions directly and leave written notes for anyone who joins later.
Adjusted as You Grow
Retainer clients get periodic tuning so the tools keep pace with the business. A setup that suited you six months ago may need a small adjustment today — we catch that before you notice it.
Plain Language, Always
We do not use technical jargon to sound capable. If we cannot explain what something does in ordinary terms, we do not recommend it.
AI Integration That Fits a Small Business
Working with AI tools is not difficult once you know which ones suit your situation. The difficulty for most small business owners is the starting point — the sheer number of options, the conflicting advice, and the nagging uncertainty about whether it is worth the disruption at all.
Bahtera Labs focuses on three services that cover the main stages of a measured AI adoption. The Setting Off Review gives you a clear picture with no commitment to proceed. The Crossing Setup connects your existing apps and adds a light assistant where the workload genuinely calls for one. The Steady Crew Retainer keeps everything maintained and improves it over time.
We work across a range of Singapore small businesses — food and beverage operations, professional service firms, retail shops, and family-run trades. The businesses we serve best are those with five to thirty staff, a handful of recurring processes that eat time, and an owner who is open to change but not looking to overhaul everything at once.
Our office is in China Square Central, and most of our clients are within a short MRT ride. We are happy to meet in person for initial conversations and walkthroughs, and we handle support and reviews remotely when that suits the client better.
Start with a Single Conversation
A Setting Off Review is one session. You leave with a clear map and no obligation to do anything further until you are ready.
